Default speedometer fix

Short story: After work this morning (I work as a fireman so it is a 24 hour day) I let a coworker drive my 928. He is in search of a new toy so I was trying to influence him. So just as we get back to the station my speedometer quits working. I tell him this is the most common problem (electrical) with 928's.
So my whole drive home I am thinking "great I have to lay on my back all morning and track down the speedometer cable and pull the pod as well, boy is this going to be a project". So I get home, kiss the wife feed the kids breakfast and finally sit down with a cup of coffee and my morning rennlist. Search speedometer and also look up the Nickols site for information and a fix. Well what do my tired eyes read but a simple plug in the spare tire bay is a common problem. Ya right I think but off I go the the garage with the same first cup of coffee. I find the plug pop it open clean with sand paper and put it back together. Ya, right I'm thinking it can't be this easy. Lo and behold I take the porsche around th block and it works. Literally a 1 minute fix. God I love this car and all the information on the web (especially rennlist) thanks to all who post and help others.
