Everything works but the "Tempostat"
Steel ball joints
Upgraded shocks to "S" (adjustable)
"S" brakes and rotors
Replaced tie rods
New muffler
Replaced a few hoses, flushed coolant
New radio
Fixed the current drain
Tightened the door handles and window guides
Installed cruise clutch switch
New window trim
Home done alignment to settle the car
Now for the test drive. Everything looks good until I hit 30mph. At that point the cruise control decides it wants to go MUCH faster. Fortunately the clutch switch does work and the cruise cut out before it reved past more than 4500.
So I headed into the archives where I found that re-soldering every point on the cruise control module seems to fix things. No dice. I also went through the shop manual troubleshooting guide and got very different results.
So here is the question. Has anyone else seen these symptoms before? Also since my test results on the multi-pin plug seemed so odd, does anyone know if that is a valid set of tests for a 1980?
My next step is to go back to the current flow diagrams and make sure that the switch is working correctly. The good news is the clutch switch and the throttle actuator are working.
