Post POD ODOMETER ???

If I swap pods with another vehicle...what happens to the odometer? Hmmm. How can I reset things to reflect the correct milage?

Since this is an 84, I doubt this info is stored somewhere else in the car and then is updated through the multi pin connector. Nice thought though.

Chris - You can either:
Pull your ODO and keep it...or
Manually spin the gear long enuff to match your mileage.

So...
What's that counter for?
That critter that hides under that thumbscrew cover on the pass. side.
Nope not the 4 channel amp, ot that wound field thingy...the unit toward the front of the cover that runs parallel with the front of the seat cushion. I think it has a re-set button.
Is it strictly for maintenance prompting or does it actually have memory.
Curious.

John,
I thought I recently read that the thingy you are referring to is the timer for the "check engine soon" light.
Apparently it turns on after so many miles reminding you that it may be a good idea to change the O2 sensor etc......

The counter under the sill cover is to turn on the oxygen sensor warning light at a predetermined mileage. When the car was designed, no one knew how long an oxygen sensor would last, so to legally cover their butts on emissions regulations, Porsche added the mileage warning. It has nothing whatsoever to do with how well the sensor is working, or what the emissions of your car are - it's just a mileage counter and a light.
