I thought I add, I'm just looking around a bit and trying to discover a QUIET tire, that is preferrably all-season and will last for a reasonable period of time... I know there have been previous posts but didn't see any mention of PZero Gaillo's. Considering also P7000 Super Sport All Season, Dunlop SP Sport 500 Asymmetrical, Bridgestone Potenza RE 730s, maybe Michelin Pilots, or Kumhos 712... I would like a good quiet tire, with a nice ride.. sorry but I don't race and rarely go over 85... I I don't need any tickets... just now. thanks for any and all input/advice. B.

Hi Bruce
I use Falken 326/451 on my 928. I do use Pirelli P7000 and PZero Rosso Assimentrico on my BMW Z3 2.8. They are quieter than the Michelin Pilot Sports they replaced and have very good wet/dry traction. I've done about 10000kms on them to date. The Rossos were very very expensive here in Australia

Thanks Doug,

My tire 'specialist' is saying that I should go with either
Dunlop SP Sport 5000 (for all season) or summer tires of Dunlop 9000... so many choices and so many opinions.. anybody? I run with 16s (which I like). p.s. never heard of Falkens.

Bruce -

I have the Pirelli Pzero Asymmetrical also in 16" sizes. They are a very understated tire in my opinion. They are VERY quiet and stick like glue in both wet and dry. Maybe not the best in each catagory, but a very good compromise. They
look good to.

I've had the Pirelli P7000 Super Sport Z rated All-Season tires on my GT for over three years. They are pretty darned good in all conditions, including snow. They stink on ice, but except for studded tires (which are illegal in many States), they all do. :^(

They are not the best performance tires when the pavement is dry, and warm, but they are hard to beat when weather conditions are less than optimal. They seem to last better than many tires I've used, and they are fairly quiet, but it's hard to tell over the RMB. ;^) YMMV

BruceA,

Your choices depend on the sizes you're after.

If you're looking for standard size 16's for your S4, I'd suggest the Bridgestone S03 (less $$, but same class tire and perhaps superior to the PZero Giallo or Michelin Pilot).

The Kumho ECSTA 712 is pretty good (I have those on my car) and would rank them higher than the others on your list.

If you're going 17's or 18's: Bridgestone S03, Michelin Pilot, Goodyear F1 Supercar, Pirelli PZero Giallo, Kumho ECSTA MX, Yokohama ES100.

An update.. I'm still researching. I seem to be still leaning towards Dunlop SP Sport 5000's; I'm told they are one of the quietest tires, they are all-season , they wear well and have more than 'good enough' performance; a good overall tire that costs out reasonably well for a performance tire. The PZero Giallo's I've checked out further and I am told that they are fairly new, expensive, a great tire but...not totally proven yet and they don't last as long and are a summer tire. I did checked on the Michelon Pilots but they seem to be one of the most expensive tires out there. (If you knew what work I've just done on the car you'd be sympathetic). I inquired about P7000 Super Sports and it seems like they don't ship my size (rears for 16s) to Canada anymore; seemed funny to me but maybe that means they are being phased out? I don't know anything about Bridgestone S03s. The more I inquire and the more I read it becomes more and more like shopping for a new fridge and stove (everyone has an opinion and nobody has the same one)..... What I need is a book, "Everything you need to know about a 928 and how to operate it for Dummies".

p.s. Rick, I want to stay with 16s. I REALLY like quiet tires (tire noises just bug me I guess), and I'd like a nice comfort ride tire (balance off my sport shocks)... maybe I'm being too fussy... hmm... dammit! I have the right to be, I drive a 928!

Bruce,

I'd say Bridgestone S03 in 16's are superior to the Dunlop SP5000 in every aspect except treadwear. Oh, the price is "superior" as well though.....

Just my $0.02.....
