I think an alignment tech session(S) would be great! I was under my car all morning today... and I noticed some uneven wear on my front end too. So, maybe Earl can show several of us how to do it. This is what makes Frenzy SOOOO great! Lots of good tech time!

Amazing small world! I just went to get a bite to eat at Griffin Tavern in Flint Hill VA. and run the car for testing after the rebuild. If anyone knows the area around skyline drive this place is in the sticks. I pulled into the parking lot and there was a black "s"? Great guy named Michael I beleive started talking and found out we both frequent the forum. Preaty cool to see another 928 in the middle of no where and here someone say "ah chewy I know you from rennlist" Great maiden voyage for my car today! Good guy and hope to see him at the Frenzy.

We're going to discuss it tonight. We can do the leisurely monument tour or drive the twisties.
Anyone coming prefer one or the other?

Any other participants from the Baltimore area interested in a caravan? It's a long ride to Sterling from Bal'mer, so why not make it interesting? We could take the northern route (70 to 15 to 267, crossing the Potomac at Point of Rocks) or the southern route (95 to 495 to 267). At that hour on a Saturday, either one should be free flowing. We could meet up (Northern Route: Frederick Keys Stadium; right off 70; Southern route: the rest stop close to exit 35 off 95) at about 7 AM. Post here or PM if interested.

Mike (and anybody else coming from the Baltimore direction),
If you're looking for a much more enjoyable drive (shorter as the crow flies, but more time due to non-highways), you might consider putting the Whites Ferry into your route. It's an old ferry that crosses the Potomac River (Poolesville, MD into Leesburg, VA) at a very scenic point. It's only $4 or so, but well worth it. John (Beerfish) will back me up on this. White's Ferry is John's stomping grounds.
To map this route:
When in Virginia, you would avoid the Dulles Greenway (toll highway) by taking Rte. 7.

The General Early at Whites Ferry is a fun ride. You can also pay a little extra for a return ticket if you guys plan to return that way.
Dont ride her when the current is up and flowing!! Right now is no problem though. JP is right, take Route 7 towards Tysons Corner to route 28. The toll road is higher speed but way out of the way and $$.
Boy I miss the 75/80 track!
Seems like all the fun is being outlawed!! >-(

Thread hijack: Hahaha, I've raced at 75/80. It was uphill! They really let that track go at the end, too. It's right next to a great golf course, Whiskey Creek. On Saturdays, you could hear the test-n-tunes going from the 14th hole on. Bothered everyone else, but I loved it!
Their problem was the value of that real estate; sold at the right time.
Back on point: does the ferry run that early on a Saturday?

Mike, the Wilcom brothers (Bill and Jerome "Romy") who own the land on which75/80 & Wilcom's Inn sits respectively, got an offer for the land that was too hard to refuse. My understanding is that it will either be a residential development (Toll Bros.) or a retirement community. It appears that they'll keep the little restaurant/bar in operation for a while longer, but the strip was shut down two years ago.
The Wilcom's pretty much had a 'continuing use' there, so although many attempts were made to shut down the strip, their use was grandfathered until the land simply became too valuable. The county did prevent any improvements to the strip, so safety started to become an issue. Bill kept it going until the last possbile minute, because he really enjoyed the track.
It was really great to see what would show up on 'anything goes' night. When you could simply show up with anything that rolled, and for $10, they'd put you next to something else to run the 1/8 mile...from ricers to pickup trucks to minivans to snowmobiles/ATV's/motorcycles to top fuel cars.
The yeehaws were a spectacle in thier own right.
Truly a classic American institution.
Re: the Jubal Early - the family who owns the ferry & the land on both sides as well as many residents on both sides of the Potomac have been fighting proposed building of a bridge down river for years. Somebody raised a stink about the Early's permits not being up to date and the ferry being unsafe which resulted in the USCG shutting them down. I was surprised that it wasn't the Park Service or DNR, but I guess since it involved a vessel....anyway, the family dug in their heels and started up operation against the CG's orders to shut down. They've since managed to come into compliance - at least for now.
