Default Our most difficult steering wheel to date

Hey all,

I want to share this project Linda and I just completed, because this one was quite a challenge.

It all started with a brand new Raid airbag wheel. These are very nice wheels, but the leatherwork is not on par with the quality of the rest of the wheel. And the client wanted classic gray to match his 993 interior.

The original cover is pieced together, with glued, unstitched seams in some places. My first big mistake was to convince both myself, and the client, that the cover for both the rim and the hub, should be made in one piece

After the third version and more hours than I spend on a set of seats, I came up with this:

After some trimming, lacing, swearing etc., this is what we ended up with:

For those who wold like to see more pictures of the process I used, please visit this link: http://www.designpaulchampagne.com/o...assicGray.html

Thanks

Paul

Default STUNNING WORKMANSHIP!

Paul and Linda,

WOW! With my 'trained surgical eye' and 'attention to detail' of my earlier surgical days... I have to say you do incredibly beautiful work!

Now, if only you could make your web site a kind of 'scratch and sniff' link, we could also get wafted with that rich leather smell!

Your presence was missed at Rog's gtg for Ernie & Pam earlier tonight... Looking forward to getting together with you both again soon!

All the best with your legendary creations!

Kim

I need to talkt o you about a leather package for my car. Do you have hides that arent grainy? I like the nappa like leather. I had that in BMW M5's and loved it, you have something similiar in black? I am thinking, armrests, dash, pod, center console

I cant take it anymore your stuff rocks!

Thumbs up

Yup,

me too- I could look at that wheel all day long.

Paul, check out the latest issue of Excellence. Porsche is now offering embossed crest in the center arm rest for the new 997 turbo.
You beat them to it.

I would worry about that crest in the middle. If the airbag goes off, at some 200mph plus it is going to leave a mark....

Fantastic work thouigh.

Fantastic work thouigh.
Actually, the way this airbag works is opening from the bottom, with the top part acting as an hinge. So if the crest is to hit anything, it would be the windshield.

Thank you all fo your kind comments guys.
