Hi Alan.., thank,s for the reply..., the sensor is mounted through the top of the brake duct.., ie sticks down about 3/4 inch, all associated wiring to it is in perfect condition..., I would guess a PO has fitted it here.
I guess I must now try and locate the fixture for the alternator in order to reinstate things to how they should be.
Items I need will be the steel collar that fits into the cooling duct and in turn holds air-con sensor.
Ducting/hose of which should,nt be a problem ie not necessarily Porsche.
And the fixture for the alternator..., God only knows how much it costs OPC.

The plastic shroud of the alternator is actualy quite cheap.............give Roger a call.
The hose as previously noted can be bought at the local hardware store; just get the correct diameter and length.
I'd buy the collars used preferably as local as possible to reduce logistics.

Just an update, I purchased the alternator air scoop, rubber grommet, and the " W " shaped bracket for the inner fender liner.
Main Porsche dealer where I got the above parts say the "Gasket" between the air-scoop and alternator is no longer available, and is no longer listed in their part list, Question is, is it really necessary, and if so, can I make one up from some other source.
One thing I,d like to know is, the fixing to rear of alternator, 4 bolts/screws I have,nt yet had the opportunity to get it up on a lift to see,...
Do you remove original bolts/nuts on the back of the alt, and then install air scoop.., or am I missing something, ie is it obvious once you see it up close.
And also the big " D " shaped rubber grommet, do you have to disconnect the Alt wiring in order to install it via the air scoop..., or is there a smart way to do it.
Any advice much appreciated.

The gasket is available.............it came with my new air scoop when I bought it from Roger.
The scoop is fastened to the alternator via 4 small nuts and washers.........7mm IIRC
You do not have to disconnect the wiring to transfer the D grommet from the old to the new scoop.

All I can feel ( at the moment ) on the back of the alternator are 4 nuts holding the rear on..., hopefully I can soon get it up on a lift to investigate further ?..., will removing the 4 nuts allow me to install the scoop ? or will the back of the alternator drop off ?

It sounds as if you need to remove the alternator and visually take into account whats required. You should also remove the LHF wheel and inner 'wing' to expose where the hose comes into the external air temp sensor .

removing the nuts on the rear of the alternator will not cause it to fall apart. The screws are threaded into the rear of the alt housing.
The D rubber seal can be fitted to the wiring after you disconnect the battery and then the wire harness to the rear of the alternator, dropping the alternator is preferred to working on it in the installed position, however is can be worked on in position.
The nuts for the rear cover are 8mm,

Well Iv,e just got back from the shop, and no luck even with the car on a lift I could,nt see how the scoop would fit without removing parts, I removed the front belly pan, disconnected the Alt wiring etc, and zilch, give in.., my friend advised me to leave it and on Monday he would get one of his techs to check it out for me.
Does anyone know or have done this job, and what was the method ? to attach the air scoop to the back of the alternator...., any advice much appreciated.
Malcolm.., I bought some 63mm flexi pipe to fit from the scoop to inner fender liner, and also the "W" shaped clamp/bracket that secures it to the liner..., my air-con sensor is in good shape, so I need to source a short length of pipe to mount in the flexi pipe and in turn fit the sensor into it.
Does anyone know what material this pipe/tube is made from, plastic/metal ??
So iv,e left it at the shop in the company of a beautiful "Italian Redhead " Ferrari 355.
Sorry about all these questions, but I,d just like to get it right.., and I really appreciate all your support.
