Getting real hard to find, at least the "real" ones with the pins that fit like the original does on the hood. Show up once in a while on ebay...

Actually, your car looks so good, you have nothing to feel in-adequate about
![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
Wow... now I feel inadequate, I need to go and clean mine up some more so it can look as good as Brians someday...

thanks guys....although that referenced thread was from back in 2005! any word on whether these are now more readily available? sounded like there might have been some dealing going on to get them produced. again, i think these are fantastic. i would probably just stay with the OEM wheels if i couldnt find these...although i do like the carrera lightweights...

The wheels are "Forgelite". They are for 996/7. They come in 2 or 3 piece. with what ever offset you want...within reason. The company said yes to doing wheels for my 928, but didn't realize what they were getting themselves into.
Over a year ago I started having issues with the front wheels. Mine are 2 piece. The way they are made is the centers are forged and cut by a milling machine to shape. The hoops (rims) are made by a separate manufacturer...who I found makes hoops for most all wheel companies in the world. My understanding is that not many wheel companies make their own hoops so there is kind of a monopoly on the hoop biz. So anyway, the hoops are heated up to expand them, the centers are placed inside and when the hoops cool, they form a super tight seal. Then there are two holes drilled into each spoke through the hoop, threaded and fitted with allen cap bolts torqued to a specific value. The issues I had were the caps were popping off of the bolts inside the tires. So you heard a rattling of cap heads bouncing around and the wheels were creaking. I was assured that at no time was there any unsafe conditions where the centers would leave the hoop. However, these cap bolts were silicon sealed after torquing to ensure no leaking of air.
Last summer, the front tires started to lose air and I was filling at least one of them daily. Needless to say I was pissed. I was living in LA and the wheels were made within driving distance of me, so I had no issues running back and forth to these guys to work it all out. Turned out they took their sweet *** time addressing this issue and I ended up moving to Portland. I was now calling them and getting into heated conversations about this issue. They told me to ship the wheels (less the tires) back to them...on my dime. I refused and said I would invoice them and shipped them anyway. It took 3 months to get them back.
What the REAL deal was...since the offset of the 928 is so great, the center of the wheel has to be moved "too" far out to the edge of the hoop for proper seating. So that you know, the hoops tend to fade/get larger toward the outer edges of the rim. Therefore, the centers were now too small for the rim..probably by a mm or so. This was enough to have the hoop "flex" around the center as the wheel rolled thus causing the creaking and bolt head snapping. Apparently, they had to wait for enough wheels to be ordered, so that they could then make a new forgings, a tad bigger, for my front wheels to ensure a tight fit.
I finally got them back, but not without many phone calls and bitching by me. Hell, I was the customer and out the big bucks...but they vocally shared their side of the losses, which I am sure are legit. Thats the learning curve I guess.
I am happy to say, that since I have gotten the wheels back, I had not had any issue what so ever with them. I decided to eat the $40 or what ever it was in shipping and the money spent to dismount and remount/balance the wheels.
Sooooooooo
to answer your question. Can you still get these wheels? Yea, probably since my car was the guinea pig and they now have all of the proper offsets and center sizes for the 928...at least a GTS. Were they cheap? Nope. They weren't the most expensive out there, but you could probably buy a 928 with the money. Will the company forge another set for the 928?...I have no clue. Let me know if you're still interested...I'll get you the hook up! ![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
BTW, you will have to get new milled dust caps to precision specification.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I gotta end on this note though...it WAS all worth it!

Sheesh! you really have been through hell and back for those spectacular wheels! sounds like a major PIA though. i guess if they are still so new and untested..other than by you of course
, im not sure it would be a good idea as i am on the east coast.
although not as sweet as yours, there is another set that someone mentioned by Antera (343?) that kind of look like yours without the special finishing touches that i like so much on yours...
