Gauge help needed-oil press/volts both acting weird..

Hey all,
My oil press gauge is acting strangely, in tandem with the volt meter. It's always one of three scenarios:
1
il press stays at about 2.5 bar, with the voltage gauge dead (no under-volt light, though) or;
2: Volt gauge stays pegged at highest deflection, oil gauge reads dead, or;
3: everything works fine!
I know the pressure and voltage are good. I threw the meter on the battery, and it showed the proper voltages. I have installed:
New oil pressure sender
New PCB for back of pod
I don't think it's the pod, as I have gone through it pretty thoroughly, and all the connectors are new/cleaned/tight.
Is there a ground point somewhere I'm missing? I've checked the one on the steering column, the one above the fuse board, the one from the block to the chassis, and the battery ground strap... any others?
I don't think anything is getting hurt, as I said, the gauges sometimes work fine. It's just frustrating when I redid the whole pod and all those beautiful gauges don't cooperate!!
BTW, everything DID work fine after the pod rebuild, so I know I got something right along the way...but the fact that both gauges, next to each other, act up at the same time....
Don't even get me started on the fuel gauge!!
Thanks everyone!

Since those are two completely separate gauges that just happen to be mounted in the same housing, I'd guess that it's a bad connection behind the pod. Maybe where the gauges connect to the flexible circuit board?

The connection might be good and also clean, but you might have a crack or short in a circuit on the flexible circuit board. I got a bunch of strange readings with my 83 5-sp similar to yours. I replaced the circuit board and found that there was a fried circuit (knocked out dash lights) and that age and heat seemed to be a factor in the condition of the board. The part is not that expensive, and after you have been in the pod a few times, relatively easy to replace. I think it was about 60 bucks. Brought the instrument panel back to life with steady gauge readings.
