I've just received a non-alarm rear hatch lock ("male" unit attaches to hatch lid). This replaces my alarm unit that was defective with signature crack on one side. Do I also need to replace the lock receiver, or all receivers the same, regardless if the lock is alarm and non-alarm?
BTW: The non-alarm lock seems much more solid than the alarm unit it is replacing.

Sadly it will nake a difference Mike in that your alarm now no longer has the signal from the rear. That may be OK but in my case it caused issues with aftermarket alarm.

My male (hatch side) alarm latch housing is cracking also. *&#%&$*#@!!
I think such a housing can be made in aluminum. If this is a common problem, and no new ones are available, is anyone else interested in buying one made of aluminum? I know a good Porsche machinist that could do it, but the price is the issue.

So my non-alarm "male" lock will fit where I now have an alarm lock. Now the next step:
I need to have the used lock tumblers set for my ignition key. How to do this?
It seems that there are two small rivets on the side of the tumbler housing (upper part of the lock). Are these to be drilled out to release the tumbler housing from the bottom portion of the lock, so that a locksmith can set the tumblers to my key?

I sent my iginition lock to Jim Bailey at 928 Intl. and then I sent the door locks and hatch locks. He will make your lock match your key or rebuild your lock cylinders to fit your key, for a very reasonable price. I suggest calling him.

Mike - yes the bottoms are the same alarm or not.
Since you now have a disconnected arm/disarm connector at the lock - your alarm will go off whenever you open the hatch - unless you unlock a door first - not too much of an issue.
