Areo mirror substitute?

Not really up to P-car standards but I put these pep-boys specials on my track car back when I built it. They were cheap, weigh nothing and can be painted.
I have since swapped them out for the "real" GTS type but they were a good option for a track car.

George Appun(Sharkbody) just had his set he bought from Roger installed, he'd have a good current price reference. He did tell me yesterday that he paid a shop he knows in the St. Pete area about $250 to install them. Didn't discuss his cost from Roger, but I know he had Roger have them painted. He also expressed how he's very happy with how much it updated the look of his S4.
I'm trying to pay close attention cause the wife wants that update on her S4 too.

This is another option...I bought whatever 911-ish model that uses the same mirror head. Got them cheap on e-bay, they are way more common than the 928 variety. Then I called 928 Int. and bought 928 bases. Quick base swap and I was good to go. I even held out for the correct color on the e-bay mirrors. No $ for painting.

The Oldsmobile Deltas (88 & 98) have door mounted mirrors that look as good as the SSRs. Also the Oldsmobile Auroras (first gens) have door mounted ones too but they stick out pretty far.

Paint should only cost you $100
So figure $500 and your set. They are an easy install and remember that they work with the memory, power and heating of the originals. I doubt any of the replacements can say that.

I just upgraded my wifes '82 with GTS mirrors and rear wing. I bought the mirrors new from Sunset for $315 and a replica spoiler from a Rennlister cheap. They turned out fantastic. Travis (my painter) quoted me $200 to prep and paint all of it.

The aero mirror and the flag mirror do not use the same base. I wish I could give you more specific 911 model info but all I did was look at the pictures on e-bay. I think they used that mirror throughout the model range. If I recall, I paid about 200.00 for the mirrors and the bases were either 45 each or 45 for the pair. They came with gaskets.
