Default 18" wheel offset on 84S

I am interested in purchasing a set of 18 x 8/48mm offset front and 18 x 10/60mm offset rear rims. Will this offset work on a 1984 928S? I currently have cupI replicas(17x7.5 and 17x9). Thanks...

Matt-
the answer is, "kind of."

First off, the fronts are going to stick out a bit too far. They won't run, but mot people try to run at least a 50mm offset with 55mm being ideal.

As for the rears. They would probably rub on the inside, or at least be very very close. You would probably do best by running a 15~20mm spacer or getting the same wheel in a 45mm offset.

Hope this helps.

Andrew, thanks for the reply. I will look at your fitment attachment and make certain the fit is "perfect".

I have been reading through a lot of wheel offset threads. Sorry to resurect such an old thread, but I just cannot figure this out.

I have an '84 928S and would like to get a new set of wheels.

the info for a set I am interested in is below. I saw a pic of an S4 with these wheels, but know there are differences between wheel offset for S4 and my '84.

18"
8.0" front & 10.0" rear
50 mm front & 65 mm rear

from AO's post, the front may be marginal. can rubbing be avoided with a 50mm offset by getting an appropriate set of tires?

I know my car has spacers on the rear. would these rear wheels fit on my car? have to get a different spacer? I do NOT want to change the rear studs. just finished doing that on one of my rear wheels on my 911 track car as part of replacing the wheel bearing. expect the other to be easier now that I have a process figured out.

thanks in advance.

Yes, appropriate = narrow meaning 225 or max maybe 235.

Ideal on the front is 60-65 or even 70+
55-56 is the most readily available.

235's would be too much, I had 225's on my 85 with a 50 offset and unless my ride height was above 160 mm they would rub in hard corners. They also tramlined a bit. Now I run 17 x 7 et 55's with 225 front tires and I have much more clearance and less tramlining. The ideal modern fronts are the 18 x 8 et 57's that come on Cayman's and 997 Carrera's.

Ted is correct. Having just done this to my EURO85 S... 18" X 8" ET50 works up front but ONLY with a 225 tire. A 235 will cause you a headache if your car sits even a little low and you hit a bad bump... it will hit the fender. The rear is fine. I bought replica Carrera Light Weights. LOVE THEM!!! The current 5 spoke factory Porsche wheel Carrera III's are a damn near PERFECT fit on a 928 (ANY 928).
