Help - Repaint or Dent Wizard
Guys, I have a terrible predicament. My 1987 928 was covered, parked in my driveway while I was on vacation for 5 days. I returned to find that all these acorns had fallen on her, causing approximately 111 little tiny "dents" or "dimples." Can't feel the dents, but when the light hits, they show. No chips or scratches are associated with the dimples. Insurance will pay, at least somewhat.
My question. Should I simply use a Dent Wizard type repair. The prospects are good, but I have concerns. My uncle, an insurance guy, says that microscopic cracks will be caused that will eventually result in rust/paint chip or peeling. I hate to repaint, especially considering the insurance will only cough up for those panels damaged (hood and roof and tops of front quarters). The paint has 120,000 miles of chips, but is in good shape (not faded, no orange peeling, nice and shiny).
I do not plan on selling the car, and it's no concours, or low mileage garage queen. Just want to do right by her.
1987 5 speed, metallic gold (heilbronze, special order at the time) 120,000 miles, runs like hell, always been relaible.
Thanks for any advice ya'll.

I've had great success with the Dent Wizard people (including some deeper dents), with no adverse effects on the paint over time. I'd probably go that route, unless you want to repaint anyway. I would imagine that with such shallow dents, paint cracking wouldn't be much of a problem.

Those must have been some large acorns....bet the squirrels near your house are FAT!
-Really, if you haven't yet, you should take it to a good body/paint shop and have them evaluate it. Perhaps they can buff it out or simply re-clearcoat the panels in question.
Good luck-
