Post LSD Common Option?

Today after checking the belt tension, the old Shark was acting quite spirited and being such a beautiful spring day, so was I. I was surprised to find that the 79 had an LSD. This was an option, right? How common are LSD's in the Shark population?

Anthony,
Up and running are we?
Are you hinting at a bit of tire slippage?
Which tension tool did you get/use?

From what I have seen LSD or code 220 was a pretty common option for 928's, less so for the 944/968 line though. With the power of the V8 compared to other cars in Porsches' lineup at the time, it probably should have been standard, which indeed it was starting in '90.

I am not sure of the common of the LSD on the early cars. I think that mine has one only because it has the "Comp Package" and it was supposted to be with it. There is nothing on the options codes of 220 for my car just the referance to the "Package" I kind of thought on the early models that it was few and far between.

not very common based on our sample of 500 or so dead cars however a non limited slip rear end will often lay down two rubber strips !

the old very brown 1980 in the parking lot in front of 928 ...bring the rpm up dump the clutch .when you look at the tracks the next day two 15 foot long black marks on the asphalt . The transmission did not have a limited slip .....now it does because I changed the trans something about a broken 5th gear input ........
