Cool 928 restoration finally complete

Hi to all, here's a few photos from my restoration, I took almost two years and about 25k USD not counting my labour. Essentially the outside of the car is new. I wanted to keep the car all Porsche hence the original wheels.

So that's what we started out with.

Had the seats retrimmed, the trimmer did an excellent job, I was worried about the seats losing their shape around the bolsters.

Better make sure we can stop, what better way than a full set of 993 Twin Turbo brakes.

Body is perfectly straight and the paintwork is just beautiful, I did the body and paintwork preparation and the people from Exoticars did the topcoats. Both inside and out was painted in Glasurit.

So on to the engine project, glad to listen to ideas. Have a look at my post M3 SMG is a 928 beater for the moment. All the best

Let me be the first (now second ) to say that you are one talented fellow. One of the prettiest 928's I've ever laid eyes on. How does she, ahem, go?

OUTSTANDING!

Greg, the car looks GREAT !!!
Very nice job on the seats, they look factory-fresh.
I think these are the first pictures I've seen of the newest 996 wheels (slim spokes) on a 928. What are the wheel sizes and more importantly the offsets???
Also, what size tires are mounted on them?

Thanks for the kind words, in response to the question about the offsets. The new Carrera wheels are 8 inches wide on the front and 10 on the rear. The tires are 225/40/18 pzeros and the rear is 285/30/18 The offsets required are 65mm on the front and 61mm on the rear.

To achieve this with these wheels requires some custom made components. The front upper control arms are 15mm shorter than the original and the rear uses a spacer that is counter bored into the hub. The control arms use the same Porsche balljoint and bushes.

The arms were made on a cnc machine and made from 6061 T6 aluminium. I have of course a copy of the program. The program was the expensive part of the project the arms to make are not that expensive. All other parts in regard to the suspension came from the Porsche parts bin.

The handling is really quite awesome. The turn in is super sharp. The ride is a bit stiff though so it is lucky that the seats are padded well. All the best.

Ohmygawd - this one is totally awesome! I love the color combination, and the subtle look with only the large wheels!

Drive safely!

Greg-
Very nice. What are the colors & codes? Great choices. A pity you messed up the passenger side with that big round spokey thing.
What are the chances of getting a copy of the CNC program?, baby needs new shoes. The wheels are the nicest upgrade I've seen.
Cheers,
Donald

Add me to WOW list, great job, interior looks excellent.

How much would it cost to 'modify' the program for the A-arms ?. Am thinking (outload) about a source for replacements for MY 87+.

You're friggen nuts!

Hey, at least you spent your time on a car worth restoring. Some guys go through that on a Chevy! Makes you wonder.

What about the engine. Let's see her with her top off!!!

I still love my 84S, but not as much as I did before seeing yours. Congratulations! What a great ride! You've made my day.
Did you say it was an 84S or an 84$?
