I let my father rebuild my torque tube as a birthday present knowing that I had absolutely no time for the job and couldn't afford to have it done. He's a qualified machinist and mechanical great, but for some reason he thought the brake band pin had to come out.(Probably just exploring) Anyway everything has been put back in place and the car sounds a million times better(no bearing whine in TT) but I have no reverse. After thorough examination of manuals I asked him if he touched this part in the book(the brake band pin). He said yes, but put it right back. This explains my symptoms: car goes into all gears fine, drive gear is functioning properly, BUT...goes in reverse, idle drops but car does not budge, applied LIGHT throttle and moved a little. Brake band, right? After taking it out and inspecting / reinserting still same problem. Do I have to drop the tranny again and disassemble it to line-up the band? Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanx, Brian

The A28 4speed trans does not have a reverse band, the A22 3speed does.
Reverse is obtain when the front clutches (B3) behind the pump and the rear clutches (K2) are applied


The bands apply 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Did you father remove the pump if so what else? Post a picture of the pin.
