Post Tweeter Trim Ring

Anyone have a spare door speaker black plastic trim ring? I have a friend
who has an 86 with a broken driver door ring. It's for the smaller speaker
which I guess is the tweeter.

If you have one or know someone who does, please let me know

Thanks!

Cool

You may not believe this, but I. too, spent months
searching for a trim ring. I refused to pay the price for a new one. Finally, after tiring of the appearance of black duct tape, I stuck my old one together with Krazy glue. It is still together; just don't push on it. This should work until I find a cherry one, which seems like it will take a long search.

Must be a common problem because all four of mine are broke to one degree or another.

I thinkith, the reason for broken speaker trim rings is that the PO had no idea on how to remove them. So what do you do as a PO, pry everything till it comes off, or breaks.

Add me to the list if you find a bunch of new ones.

Keith has already seen this answer on the email list, but I'll repeat it here for those who don't monitor that list.

Get some good black plastic electrical tape. Roll out a strip long enough to go around the ring two times. Trim it to a width that is just a little wider than the distance from the inner edge of the ring to the outer. Stretch it tightly around the outside of the ring, keeping the original straight edge where it will just cover and match the outer edge of the ring at the grille. If you stretch it tightly enough, the tape will curl over and make a neat edge. As you get to the last half-turn stretch the tape less and less, so that the last few inches are not stretched at all. Trim the edges for best appearance.

Done correctly, the repair is all but invisible.

Can't emphasize the "good" tape enough. Cheap tape will come off as soon as the interior gets hot. Good tape won't.

Queston:

How do the speaker grills come off on a '91 model. It used to be that you could twist them, but that doesn't seem to work on my car. One of them has a little dent in it, and I'd love to straighten it out some time...
