Nicole,

Actullay since I am knee deep into a rebuild on an automatic, I have found there is no difference between the 928 transmission and the Mercedes. The 722.2 for the three speed and the 722.3 for the four speed take the same rebuild kit as the equilivant Mercedes transmission.

The difference is in the modifications Porsche made to the front and rear of the transmission. On the front they added a front piece to contain the torque converter with a flex plate and hook up for the Torque Tube. On the rear they adapted the output shaft to accept a pinion gear and bolted on the Porsche differential. Kind of a slick solution to not having to resdeign a new transmission.

Other than exterior modifications it is a Mercedes transmission.
