FWIW, I vote with the guys that say go pick it up in person and drive it home. There is nothing like the experience.

I was picked up at LA airport in what was about to be my wife's new driver a few years ago. I had a chance to look the car over ... It had already had a PPI. We negotiated the final price and handled the currency exchange with the soon to be former owner, at the bank of his choosing, and I was on the road out of town from Santa Monica just in time to be ahead of the afternoon rush hour.

North on I-5 to Portland was about 1000 miles. 13 hours later I was home. (76 mph avg, including stops for gas) It was a great ride. There is not much better than boring a hole in the night, at speed, in a 928. It was almost like the 18 wheelers knew I was coming and just stayed over in the right lane, and out of the way. I didn't even play the radio, just put the windows down and listened to the air rushing by and those great 928 sounds.

To each his own, but it sure worked great for me!

Good luck with your new 928, no matter how you choose to get it home.

Thanks for everyone's input. Unfortunately, a drive home just won't work for me. I was a little skeptical about buying a car sight unseen, but Cameron has worked with me regarding price and sent lots of pics and maybe I'm too trusting, but I believe him.
Cameron- post the pics- you know I like seeing pics of the car any chance I can get. I'll call you Thursday or Friday after the inspection.

I also am of the "go drive it home" group. A more wonderful time with your new shark will be hard to find, at least that was the way for me!
Flew down, looked at the car, chose a shop to have a PPI done ( in my case, THAT was a waste of money! ), four weeks later, flew back down and drove it home, Fla. to Ohio. Wif was anxious about fuel economy, first tank 20+, second got 21+, third, through the W.Va. mountains, got 22.4 MPG, all while trying to keep it about 85 MPH at @2800 RPM. Wonderful trip! The car just loafed along!
Unless you can't get the time free to drive it home, or are one of those unfortunate people who do not like to drive long distance?
Believe us, that drive should be a small vacation!

Hmm, or are you gonna wait long enough to drive your new toy up through North Carolina, and show off your new toy at SITM???? Just before driving the rest of the way home? Only a little less than 4 weeks away.... You could take I-40 almost all the way home from there.... Yeah, I know, it's a BIT out of the way home.... A bit longer vacation.... Cameron, would he be able to let it sit there at your place, for that amount of time??? Or is Jay anxious to have his new toy HOME??? Decisions, decisions.....

Jay is getting a great car with just under 80k miles, records back to 1990, and most of the major items done in the last few years such as:

- completely rebuilt climate control $3K
- timing belt just done about 2000 miles ago (will be re-tensioned)
- motor mounts
- major (30k miles) service at 70k miles <img src="http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/neeginan1/lst?.dir=/1990+928+S4&.src=ph&.view=" alt=" - " />
- torque tube done at 49k miles by PO
- new stereo
- new fuel injection brain - paid for by stereo shop for burning it out!
- Jageng shifter and interior accents

I really wasn't planning on selling, just came across the GT that I couldn't walk away from.

It sounds like you you have completely ruled this option out. Not to get too philisophical but life is made up of experiences. It is these rich experiences that get you through the tough times. Each opportunity should be taken to its fullest even if it means a little sacrifice to get it. I know I, and the dozen other guys here, are not wrong about this. Seriously re-consider taking the drive, you only go around once <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" />

Well, it's official, as of 20 minutes ago, the car is on its way here. Cameron and I talked a lot about the car and I saw lots of pics, so the deal is done. Cashiers check and title transferred and no problems. These are going to be the longest 5-7 days of my life! So close!!
And don't forget, my '98 TransAm is still for sale- get it quick!
I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for everyone soon.

Congrats, looks like a excellent purchase. Lots and lots of potential smile factor there. Even has a Jager Tip Shifter that you will end up working through the gears like a 5sp.
