Post Garage Cleaning

OK, so I'm cleaning up my garage and decided to get rid of a few things that somebody else might find more useful. There are a few 928-related items, some of which I posted on <a href="http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=nicoleqte" target="_blank">EBAY</a> :

The club anti-theft device for non-airbag cars:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33720&item=2411251099" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33720&item=2411251099 </a>

Porsche tire inflator compressor for the handyman - cheaper than dirt: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6782&item=2411253872" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6782&item=2411253872 </a>

2 ignition coils from my '91 S4 - they can double as paper weights, and possibly for self defense, too... ;-)
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33689&item=2411252743" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33689&item=2411252743 </a>

Not on ebay, yet: A glove box door, black and straight, with a few minor scuffs. Includes the hinges. I paid $100 for these parts a few years ago, then found a way to reglue the one in my car. I have long sold that car, so please make me an offer I can't refuse!

One more:

I still have eight of the connectors that connect the ignition wires with the spark plugs. I've been told that these hardly ever go bad, but the new plug wire set on my car came with new connectors. I hear they are over $30 each when purchased new. Make me a reasonable offer, and these will be yours! (they are not on ebay, yet)

Hey Nicole,

I have a compressor just like that - also doesn't work!

How did you end up solving the idle problem? I've been experiencing this problem lately and was thinking of checking the coils... but if you found something else it might help. Thanks.

Hi Reinhardt:

The idle issue was traced back to a combination of two reasons:

1. The engine compression was very inconsistent. I ran the car with a few tanks of Lubri Moly Ventilreiniger, and drove it like I stole it.

This brought some improvements, but after I had a flat tire and the car sat for two weeks until I got around to get it fixed, the rough idle had been back.

2. Then I had a Rislone treatment done. That's an internal engine cleaning agent, that's put into the oil. Then the car is driven like crazy to clean everything out (kind of like an Italian tuneup). Since then, the idle has been good.

In regards to the compressor, I am pretty confident that all it needs is a new plug - it is unlikely that two things broke at the same time. It was running perfectly until the fuse blew. Since I already have a new one, there is no point in keeping this one, if a fellow shark owner can fix and use it.

Nicole,

I like the Italian tuneup idea. I've run one tank of injector cleaner so far so I guess a few more are in order. I'll see if I can find some of that engine treatment too. Thanks.

Got the compressor with one of the cars, don't remember which one. It has never worked and I've never bothered to see why since I have another compressor. It looks really cool though and I may see about fixing it some time. Could just be a wire...

I ran the Lubri Moly Ventilreiniger on half tanks only, so it would be more concentrated. After two weeks we did another compression test, which came out great.

It seems these engines absolutely need to be run regularly, and often enough at high rpm. In my automatic that rarely happens, unless I play with the Jager tipshifter...

Apparently the earlier cars had different conmpressors. I wonder, if anyone can post a picture of what these looked like...

Nicole, please include an asking price for your non-eBay items.

Thank you.

Well,... I decided to put the spark plug connectors on ebay as well - for a starting bid of $24.99 (that's about 10% of the price of a new set). Hope someone finds them useful.

The glove box door is sold.
