Default Would these wheels fit?

Still hunting around for the 928S4 offset as I have these wheels in mind. Thoughts? Both have 52mm offsets. Thanks

If you like nervous/ over sensitive steering and the front wheels sitting too far out so that when turning at low speed into a driveway or something similar the front tyres will sooner or later make contact with the alloy front guards and a nice tear/ split will appear in the guards at the contact point . We see it at our work all the time and only when the front offsets are that far out . Hope you enjoy the new steering sensation of for ever correcting the steering wheel even when traveling on the highway ,it allways over time gets to our customers and they in the end either sell the car or they fix it by getting wheels made in either the correct offset of 65mm or 60mm that the 89GT had . The lowest we dare get three piece wheels made (offset Front wheels) is 58.5 mm but even that you can feel a bit and on a long trip even that offset is a bit annoying . Regards . BB .

I ran et52 wheels on my 928 for a while. The difference in handling when I swtiched to a more 928 friendly offset was amazing.

I understand the S4s came with front 65 and rear 52.3. I am checking to see if the seller has fronts in the 65mm offset.

I drove my 928 like that for about three yeras (plus two track events).

What year is your car? Don't the S4 front wheels sit in just a tad closer to center than the OB's?

I'd limit the options to somewhere closer to the factory front offset. As others point out, the steering gets much more raod sensitive/reactice with the wheels hanging outr. It doesn't sound like a lot, but with bigger sticky tires you'll find yourself fighting the wheel a lot more. It can dramatically accelerate steering rack wear, especially if the ride height is less.

One thing we seldom talk about with higher offsets is safety during flat-tire events. With the negative scrub of the original offsets, a flat tire in front can be managed with hands off the steering wheel. Move the wheels out, and the car will suddenly swerve toward the failed tire. Same deal on an impact to one tire, like a bump, pothole, rain gutter, driveway ramp. Car will pull towards the offending corner. This may or may not be critical to most drivers at US speeds, but it is a very interesting phenomina at freeway speeds or faster and especially on less-than-ideal surfaces.

pearl,- just a word of warning. check my old thread about wheels and a few of the replies from other renn members. i almost bought those for my shark as well. oemstylesforess has been spoken of poorly. i ended up going to wheel dynamics in california. they do look awfully nice and are inexpensive. oem will negotiate on the shipping since it should really only cost about 100 for all four wheels. just watch the offset.
good luck and happy wheel hunting

the wheels look nice but in reading the auction you will pay a premium of 275.00 for shipping with no option for pickup??? The wheel edges are chromed so this may be a problem after a while with the possiblity of chrome peeling off and if you should hit a curb the wheel is toast. I am not sure if your buying a forged or cast wheel but the ad says in the style of the forged porsche wheel, if its cast your wheel weight may be heavier than a factory part.I would stay away from any kind of chromed wheel made from aluminum, Plus the front offset is going to make the car be less stable

Just checked my documents and found that the Keskin KT2 wheels on my car also have offsets of 52mm both front & rear.

I can confirm that the car is very keen on following any kind of track or indentation in the road surface. Also, self-centering seems weaker than I would expect. Haven't tried it on other wheels as these were on it when I got it, so can't say how different wheels with more correct offset would feel.

In addition, the 225/40-18 tyres in front extend beyond the edges of the front wings. May or may not be a problem depending on legislation where you live - it's allowed in Germany where I got my car from, but actually a problem for me here in Denmark.

Incidently, does anyone know if the RH 3.6 wheels my Keskins are emulating can be had with offsets closer to 928 specs ?

Cheers,
Erling

Some types of RH wheels for the 928 has 59 mm offset at front.

Just bought a complete new set of RH wheels, 8.5 ET 59 with 235/40-18 front, 10 ET 54 mm with 275/35-18 rear.
They work great, large improvement in grip mostly due to new tyres, though they are heavier than the GTS-style original C2 wheels previously mounted.
Also, due to the improved tracion, it is not so funny to drive, as the tail does not go wide that easily anymore.

The front offset is very close to being too small, the tyre barely clears the front fender, wether they stick out or not depends on how you define it.

(Since I live in Norway, obviously these wheels cost me a fortune, so everyone must say they are very great wheels).

be careful of these offsets (et 55mm)

my 19 inchers have a rear offset of 67mm, my fronts are 57 mm.

you are looking at a 10 inch wide rear, and that's where you will get into trouble.....

I run a small spacer on each corner, but your offsets may not need it. when you get this large, you run a big risk of rubbing not only on the outside lip but the inside fender as well. My 19x11 997 wheels sit perfectly in the wheelwell, without using a flaming hacksaw. It's all about the spacings.....

An easy way to check fitment is looking at Wheel Dynamics website or contacting Carlos there.....He is very knowledgeable about what will work and what requires a chop job.

I am also cautious of anyone offering $6500 wheels at least than 50% of retail on eBay.....the may be either knock off's, take off's, second's, or hot as a firecracker.

When is comes to eBay----it's buyer beware.

Those look like SSR GT3's

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...2FPolished+Lip

They will work, but for an 8.5" rim with only 52mm offset....is marginal for the front....since the stock wheels were 7" with 65mm offset so these wheels will be 6mm closer on the inside and stick out 32mm more on the outside

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

I do like the look of these wheels on 928's....some guys run them...I think Dr Mohr has them on his stroker GTS? They will work, but a touch more offset is ideal up front...the rear is fine
