Red face 87 cutting off and not starting

I have an 87 928 5 speed. After everything was going fine until I ran it through a car was. Afterwards the car began to hesitate while driving. I thought maybe a couple of wires got wet but the symptoms continued for a few days until the car cut off completely. When I tried to start it smoke came from what appeared to be behind the glove box. I had the car towed to my local porsche dealer where it sat for a couple of weeks befor they said the figured out the problem. They said it was the fuse panel. I picked the car up and had it less than 24hrs befor the same thing happened again. Same hesitation, same final cutoff and smoke. I'm a little concerned about my dealers knowledge of sharks. Any ideas? Help!!!!!

Did you pressure wash the engine, if so my guess is you have water in the fuse panel. Post what the dealer replace or repaired. Check the panel for water or moisture by pulling and checking each relay one at a time, if you find moisture try drying the panel with a blow dryer or call the dealer the car should be under warranty

Good luck

That would explain the first instance I don't understand why it happened the second time, especially after one month at the dealer at which time they replace the old fuse panel.

I can't recall ever hearing of the need to replace the entire fuse panel before - I mean, come on - it's just a slab of plastic with metal clips and connectors for attaching wires, fuses and relays to - probably one of the 'lowest tech' items on your car.

Sounds like you need a new 928 savvy mechanic there nusouth (what is a nusouth?), or at least one with a modicum of electrical systems experience.
