People on the road are such idiots today. Cell phones are fine - some people just can't do multiple things at once.

I was getting on the highway last week. I started to break away from traffic when I see a motorcycle sliding down the highway on it's side going about 50mph. Then I saw the guy tumbling down the road like a rag doll. One of the most freaky things I have ever seen on the road. Obviously the guy was clipped by a car. I used to think I was cut off because my car was so low. Now I know it's because people either don't look in the their blind spot or they can't turn their heads because they can't hold onto their phone. I don't think it matters how big your car is with a lot of these people.

No, but if VTC4198 wants to sell his I might be tempted to be a two car owner, then I wouldn't feel bad about driving mine because I would have a cherry one as the garage queen again.

Drivers in LA/Orange county are notoriously bad. Aggressive, inattentive, clueless. Not to mention discourteous. I fear for my 928 whenever I go down there.

OTOH, I've noted considerably more deferential drivers away from SC since I got it. Cars actually pull out of the fast lane when I come up behind them, something that rarely happened in previous cars, including BMWs.

Yeah, I find flashing the lights and honking the horn erratically makes them move too! ;-)

Seriously, I think you are right about people showing a lack of courtesy. Just yesterday I am in the right lane at a light when this bitch blows past me on the right and continues straight instead of turning right. We get to the toll road onramp and as she turns I am right behind her so I swing wide to go around her on the left and she moves into my lane and is now flipping me off!! I coulda pulled her out of the car right then and slapped her silly. There is no way she could have thought she was in the right, no one can be that stupid.

Ditto and with the German plate on the front most just get the hell out of the way.

edit: I also keep a boat 130 dB air horn in the front seat with the sun roof open. A directional blast tends to get people's attention and they get completely freaked.

I notice tailgating and people racing me from lights. SUV's being the worst offenders.

I've gotta try that.

The stock horn just doesn't say 'HEY YOU'RE ABOUT TO BACK OVER ME IN YOUR CADILLAC ESCALADE!!!'.

It's more like, 'Ahem....Excuse me.....'

That reminds me of a Youtube clip about some guys that installed an airhorn from a train in their car. They then went around randomly honking at people and filming their reaction. Oh man, a lot of pants were filled . In the 928, that would get someones attention who was about to cut you off .

Best horn ever is one off a TUGBOAT! This was stuffed under the hood of a 1-ton 4x4 and we would cruise behind people and let it rip from the tailgate position. All three/four lanes would just crap themselves.

I agree, though perhaps a Pacer is closer.

I also think that the OB tail lights, which are quite small in comparison to today's tail lights, make signals harder for people to see.

So too, while I have not had anyone want to drag race me (I would probably lose anyhow 'cause I drive like a weenie) I have had numerous occasions when people would not let me into a merge lane or cut me off. I've wondered if they've been thinking about the Porsche-porcupine joke at the time.

I find myself thinking of that when I drive too. Here I am enjoying my day, just cruising along in traffic and if someone wants to merge into my lane I'll usually let them. If they force their way in though, I usually 'close ranks' especially if I'm in a long line of traffic where all of us have been waiting patiently. I feel like when I do this though I'm asking for a little road rage from someone who thinks that way instead of just thinking that I'm a driver who doesn't like being cut off by rude impatient drivers.

I believe that the left lane is for passing only. A lot of states have enacted laws to make this so. I also believe that no matter what the limit is, if you are not passing, you should not be in the left lane. I don't care if the limit is 60 and you're doing 80. If I come up behind you in the left lane, you'd best be moving over.
Okay, off the soapbox now.
I have noticed that when driving the 928, I tend to get tailgated more, and no, this is not in the left lane. I just marvel when they are close behind me that they believe their car is able to stop as quickly as my 928. Usually at that point, I drop the hammer and leave them in the dust. No more rear end accidents for me!
