Post Raindrops keep falling on my head

This past weekend brought some rather heavy rain showers. When I hit speeds over 40mph, I started getting drops of water from where the headliner meets the windshield, well forward of the sunroof. <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

Has anyone experienced this? What's the best way to re-seal a windshield? I didn't see any windshield "seals" for sale at the Big Three.

if you look in the manual, you will see that the factory method for front window replacement is laborious and technical. from experience, i can tell you the rear quarters are definitely a two-person operation. if you are cautious you can probably do the front without a great mess however i would definitely use the factory sealant.

I'm going to check with a local windshield shop to see (1) IF they would do the remove/reinstall job and (2) how much they would charge. Of course, I'm assuming that in 2002, normal shops can seal windows as well as Porsche did in 1985.

Have you checked that the sunroof drains are clear? They can fill up, and then leak down where you are referencing.

My 82 had the exact same problem when I got it. I had my fixed at a local auto glass shop. As it was explained to me, the factory sealant was of a different composition than what's used today. The older formula has a greater tendancy to get dry and powdery with time, causing the leak. The new stuff should last longer, and it sets up quicker so you can get back to driving sooner

The job cost me about $500, including a new windshield and labour to install, as mine also had big chip from a rock on the road (believe it or not, the leak and the crack weren't related).
