Doug Hillary HAS NOT said that Mobil 1 0w-40 is not suitable for our 928's. Just restating so nobody misreads this information and puts words in DH's mouth.

EDIT: Nevermind - it was the Castrol 5w-40 that Doug didn't like:

How's that for restating?

I could just see the looks of onlookers at a gas station as I pull an emu and large funnel out of the hatchback and proceed to wring oil out of the Emu into the oil filler.
Why yes ossifer. That is an emu sticking it's head out of my sunroof.
(I like animals. I won't torture an animal for amusement)
Methinks It's more humane squeezing oil out of Canola. (You wonder why the food retail marketers call it Canola instead of it's other name - Rapeseed)
If I drop shelled peanuts into the oil intake, will the crank process peanut oil for me and spit out peanut butter in the crankcase breather port?

You know...I think pound for pound, a load of avocados is your best bet. Avocado oil is worthless in culinary arts plus the bio-deisel people haven't caught on, so the price would be reasonable.

Mark,
I find peanut oil a lot better than extra virgin. I save the extra virgin for salads and dipping bread in.
Anyone tried Canola?

So, what you're saying is that there is no 15-50 approved by Porsche, right?!
I also think you have confused me with Dave; he's the one runnin' 0w-40, not I. As I stated earlier, I use 5w-40 (full synth).

I suspect that the method is very similar to the method used to extract Baby Oil. At least they don't label the bottle with a picture of the donor, as the baby food folks do...
Oh, Mobil-1 15W-50 during my period of stewardship. PO liked Castrol GTX 10W-40, according to all his dealer receipts.

Porsche-approval is a bit misleading, just like their tyre pressure recommendations are. We drive essentially not Porsches but Lamborghinis. Our V8 engine ahve less than nil to do with the oil requirements for a boxer flat horizontally-opposed massive-bore flat six. NOTHING in common.
So, Porsche-approved oils ... we need to look t Audi; Chev; Ford; Dodge; Lamborghini; Ferrari etc.
