Post What's This Bracket?

<img src="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/Bracket.jpg" alt=" - " />
While replacing the right front brake air duct I noticed the mounting brackets in the above picture. The orientation is looking upward from the front of the car with the front wheel in the lower part of the photo while the horns may be seen just above the brackets.

Any ideas what might be missing from this location?

Gordon the one on the right looks like the bracket that the horn goes on. Is it made out of two peices of metal that are sandwiched together?

Thanks guys. There are two horns mounted directly above and behind these brackets. Could be whatever incident mashed the brake duct also took out the stock horns and the above are a Rube replacement. Do they look stock?

the stock horns on my 84 look like litttle air horns and that definately looks like where the origional ones were or where the fender liner bolts to although I'm missing one of mine

I am trying to figure out the picture. I have the twin tone horns on my car and they are not mounted there "as the picture indicates". Gordon I think that someone has added those two brackets for (something else????). Maybe a horn that he/she did not know where to install.

The arm coming from the base out to the guard has fixings for the covers to screw to. It looks like these arms are identical on each side (ie there isnt a lh or rh one), which means that there is a spare fixing bracket on the front of each, while the rear hole is used by the cover screws?
clear as mud?

Well, the car runs great. If there is nothing of import suppose to be in there I will remove the unused bracket and save weight. He he.

Thanks all.
