Default CAM cover differences

What's the visual and physical difference between the S4 vs S 32V Cam covers?

Awesome question! I'd like to know more detail on this also - mainly the sunken PORSCHE lettering - is it the same size?

The PORSCHE lettering is slightly different (but Nicole's letters do fit), and 86.5's don't use the bolt caps that the s4's do.

Some 85-86 cars have the cap bolts. I am not sure if they have been converted, but I have one that is that way.

The covers on the S4 have a curve on the corners while the 85-86 covers are squared off.

There's also the difference in the bolts, right? I think the '85s and '86s have a two-piece bolt (allen head?) and the '86.5 + have a hex head one-piece?

Isn't there three different variations? Early two piece, '86.5 single piece and '87+ single piece.

85-86 have indents for plug wire boot routing below the spark plug hole. Also, the small screw holes for single plug wire holders are next to, and slightly above, the plug holes, versus the S4, where they are below the plug hole.

The covers themselves have different gaps for different rubber grommets. The 85-86 versions allow the use of rubber o-rings. They fit neatly into the cover as pictured.

The 87+ models use much larger grommets as well as cupped/domed washers that fit over them. The second picture is of the grommet.
