Colored gauge faces
-I'm in the process of putting colored gauge faces in my S2. My plan is simple: take out the ones in the car, scan them, invert the colors [negative image], and then print them on champagne-color paper, like the interior of my car. Just add a little glue and a red pinstripe for the redline mark....voila!
My question: Does anyone have a good method for removing the speedometer and tachometer needles without breaking them or their shafts?

Sorry, no tips for removing the needles.
Something to condsider might be the intensity of the warning lights built into the gauges. Adding another layer of material may impact the warning lights built into the gauges and prohibit you from seeing them easily.
Just a thought...

Normy,Jay is right - Don't forget the warning lights!
The shop that did mine used very thin white vinyl and the warning lights shine through, allbeit a bit dimmer than stock. If you use thicker material or darker colors for the background you'll have to leave cut outs for the the warning lights.
Sorry, I don't have any info on the needles either. I would assume they pull off gently, but I'm not sure. My advice is don't do it yourself. -Have it done by a specialist.
Hope this helps. Here's a pic:

To remove the speedometer and tachometer needles, turn them counter clockwise as you pull away from the gauge face. When you turn counter clockwise, you will hit an internal stop, and the needle will turn on the now stationary shaft. With the upwards pressure it will come right off after it has started to turn on the shaft like that. Be sure to pull straight away from the gauge face, and note where the needle was pointing for when you reinstall it.
