Post Daytona tires

Is anyone farmiliar with the Z rated tires from Daytona (Dayton), a sister to the Firestone/Brigestone company? Just curious.

I've seen the Daytona tires at WheelWorks and Pep Boys. If I remember correctly, they look good, but were NOT W-, Y-, or Z-speed rated tires. If you're looking for inexpensive price/performance, I suggest looking @ the Kumho ECSTA 712's.

Cool

Yokohama makes some high speed, high mileage, low noise tires exclusively for Sears.

FWIW,

I am currently running Sumitomo HTRZ-II's and have been quite pleased with their performance/price ratio. They're priced just a teeny bit higher (~$20 ea.) than the Kumho's.

No, they aren't P-Zero Rossos, but the law of diminishing returns is just as applicable to a tire as any other part on the car.

FWIW-

I am currently running a set of the Dayton's on my 87. I have ~8K on them now with no problems - plenty of tread left - I expect to get ~25K out them at the rate I'm going now.

They are Z rated, and grip well in the rain and ride smooth. I have not experienced any problems with traction to date.

btw - there were ~$120/each - running 225/17 - F and 245/17 - R.

I would recommend them for a good general driver with no hesitations.
