Question Motor Mount Procedure

Is the procedure to replace the motor mounts in 16V engines the same as the 32V?

John Pirtle's site documents it well. I would like to know if I am going to find the same thing when I get under there, or a whole different mysterious world.

Any comments?

Basically, yes, it is. I'm in the process of doing it as part of the whole t-belt mess.

There has been some discussion on the 928 e-mail list about the differences and modifications required when using non-OEM motor mounts on the very early cars.

If using the OEM mounts, I'm finding that John's writeup is right on the numbers for the replacement. It's easier than it looks.

James,

Thanks for the feedback. I think that I will try the Ford replacement motor mounts. I have read the postings and the pro's & cons regarding the substitution. I love working on my car, so if the "cheap fix" doesn't work, no problem... it just gives me another excuse to get back up under her! <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

FWIW, I used the Anchor 2698 mounts and they fit perfectly w/small washer/shims to bring them to Porsche height. We'll see how they stand up in the next few years.
