Exclamation Spark plugs

After searching the archives, I found one thread from Jan last year that talked about spark plugs. The only type that was discussed was the Bosh +4. I am sure that over the year plugs have changed a little. There are gold, platinum, single, double, and four prong tips all made by different manufactures. I run my car hard playing on the autocross events and may hit the track this year, does any body have anything about what plug to use?

And for the record, there aren't many reported problems with the standard Bosch plug.

...and away we go ;-)

Thank you for the input. Drew, that web site has a good overview of the properties. I read another string that since we now run unleaded fuel that it is now more difficult to read a plug and determine potential problems or settings.

With this information, I would think that the Bosh +4 would provide the largest kernel to provide the complete burn. Then with Dave's information, I would think that by opening the gap perhaps .004" would help the gap from becoming fouled.

The only question that remains concerns the amount of RFI, since there is not a lot of metal to shield EMI from the inside of the car. The fact that the majority of people have modified their stereo systems, the amount of static caused by EMI could not be consistent. I will have to adjust for whatever static I get.

Again thanks for the input; I’m off to buy my plugs.

I would try the Beru Ulra X plugs. I had these in a rich running 914-2.0 and they burned well, the silverstone plugs (single) got fouled immediately. I agree that the platinums can easily foul, I'll bet you would have to open the gaps a bit. I will try the ultra-x plugs soon, be willing to bet they will burn better especially with a rich condition.
