Default stereo Alpine

I currently own a PDX -5 in 2 of my vehicles and i will tell you HANDS DOWN THE BEST- VERY BEST AMP EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why?

NUMBER ONE - ITS PLEANTY POWERFUL= PLENTY I MEAN I PLAY SOME OLDER DISCO THAT ANY LOUDER IS JUST UN ACCEPTABLY LOUDER.

Matched up with two component sets of mb quarts size 6.5

and a cheap 10 inch kenwood sub in a smaller than usual box - Absolutely Cranks and sound super tight!
And an alpine head unit i should mention-

But the best part is that at full power - Full bass- Not a flicker in the headlights on a 5 cylinder 2006 beetle convertible- Cause of the digital amp!

The only way to travel and absolute must have

Best set up ever and I do have twice as much money in a jl audio system

I did a very nice stereo install on my 90 GT uh well it was 6 years ago. I did have a very good local installer stereo guy doing the work. They made a fake plywood rear deck covered with thin carpet mat with cutouts in plywood for the thin 4 channel amp, a thin 2 channel amp and a Rockford Fosgate surround sound procesor. The rear deck amp thing replaced the rear deck carpet and was only a little over an inch thick and used the factory clips to hold it in. I choose a Nakamichi head unit for the 6 disc in-dash changer and great sound quality. Head unit preamp outs RCA to Surround Sound Processor that fed the 4 channel amp for front and rear components and the 2 channel amp for the subs. They used Infinity Kappa 4.1 in the doors and rear side decks. 4 inch mid/woofers (response range) with 1 inch tweeters in factory holes and grills. In the 6 inch side bolsters I put in the JL 6W0 using a custom made 3/4 thick ring that brought the sub out far enough to leave everything stock including the grills. It sounded fantastic!!! The JL subs only being asked to do the job of subs in the side panels worked great, the installer may have put some sound batting behind the JLs. I just loved the surround even without the 5.1. I think having the matched set of components with adjustable crossovers really made a huge difference in the setup. The amps were wired directly to the battery with a relay to turn them on/off from the head unit.

hi,
I think the pdx will also fit easily on the back of the rear seats.
Some tests have found the PDX amps a little lacking at the lower end, I have not heard them and I think you would only notice this with a premium system, eg full deadening and high end install.

Interesting read, I also, like Stirling and the other writer [sorry after 6 pages I forgot your name] ,mounted a 6.5' Rainbow 'kick bass' woofer [80 - 180Hz] in the lower door panel. My point of diference is that I mounted the woofer solidly to the door and cut the door card. As I find it hard to get out the door I wanted to retain the foot space the recessed door card gives. I f only I can get to Stirling 's level of finish!

My car is fully deadened with Second Skin Audio sound deadening products and it makes a HUGE difference to the sound. At least do some in the doors. See some pics on page 186 in the 'post a pic of your 928' thread. Those rainbows will thump your chest with bass and I am still running them off the HU!
Front ch run the mids and tweeter, rear Ch runs the woofers.

Personally i feel that the B pillar and rear hatch speakers are a total waste of time, but unless you fit woofers in the doors a necesary evil. Also try DD 6.5L [Digital Designs] and Hertz deici 6.5 woofers, they make long travel woofers that deliver awesome bass, or Elemental designs 7KV2 7" subs, but they have a huge magnet!
