Hey Dave,
Yeah I have listened to all that stuff, except for Audiobahns higher end. I don't have experience with it, but if you think it sounds good, great! Especially if you can get good stuff for low buck, even better! Now, I'd simma down on the tone there buddy, we do know each other in person ya know... And my choice in speakers has nothing to do with ego, my personal preference and experience. I do have a tendancy to buy higher end stuff yes, but that doesn't mean I like paying their prices... Oh, you'd love this, I went to a police aution and got some 5.25" bostons and put them in the doors of my old 280zx, and then bought some boss tweaters for $20, and actually got a lot of compliments on the sound! Yeah, the tweeters (all things considered) were crap, but they were VERY bright, and they made some ok sound. Oh, and the amp was a Koiiler "800w" 4 channel. Now I'm not saying here is what is good and only these things, just some input from what I've used, installed, and heard. Personally, I think MB Quart is overpriced, but they do sound nice. Oh yeah, whats up with your car? Any new toys or mods, or plans for either? Take care my man!

Barry,

Regarding the RMS vs. peak ratings.... Back when I was in the car stereo install game we had a name for some of the amplifiers that made great claims like a 400W Jensen...... We developed a new rating called the WLS rating.

Basically, we were convinced the Jensen could reach 400W When Lightning Strikes it (WLS).

It passed the time for us wire slinger geeks

Aaron,

I would like to do the same thing on my S4 that you are doing, especially with regard to the area behind the front seats. I am also in the process of replacing the head unit that the PO had installed with a base model Blau Honolulu that I bought. I don't need as many bells and whistles on my audio system so I was just thinking of replacing all of the speakers in the car with either MBQ's or Blau's and just adding 1 sub in the back.

My thinking is that I really don't like the idea of needing to inflate the spare for emergencies (since I don't have the compressor and the lighter receptacle looks really bad...), so I went and bought an extra S4 rim and tire and I would make the cover in the back high enough to cover up the tire and still have room for an extended tool kit and other items.

I am working on making a panel that would hide the area on the center console where the ashtray is and would also cover the digital clock. My new head unit has a built-in clock (the PO also removed the stock clock and replaced it with an LED display for the alarm... really fugly). The cover will be made out of lexan and then covered with carbon fiber.

I hope that you can take some photos of your setup. As I make the cover, I will post some images of that, just in case others are interested.

I think I'm gonna move the AudioControl HPX and PPI 4-band EQ from the Jeep to the Porsche. As they are both 1/2 DIN units, they should stack nicely where the digital clock is currently with the Nakamichi Cd player above them.

Here's the HPX

the little blue and red display is removable and you can make your own. I think I'll do either a knock-out of a 928 in profile or the number 928 themselves.
