Don't know if anyone saw a white GT3RS at the paddocks but I was told that's Patrick Long's street ride.
I don't like the 911. Because first time I'd drive into a wet corner I'd be doing 720's 540's and gawd knows what type of spins my unedumacated foot will lead me into.
Wonder how many times my old FWD understeering pig Audi 5000s has saved my bacon.
Great. Now people will call me a 911 hater. Sigh.

The newer cars with all the electronics are almost difficult to spin even with the PSM off it still kicks in if you push too far. I for one am not a fan of PSM and prefer the older cars that force you to think while driving. The new Caymen and Caymen S are two of the most forgiving Porshe's I have ever driven. You can make one mistake after another and it just keeps forgiving. Unlike the older 911's that let you know your making a mistake. But getting a 911 unsettled has more to do with being too abrupt than anything else. If your smooth in your actions it is a very capable car.

First time I went into a 90 degree right hander near work, I just pushed the throttle a little harder than to make sure I get around traffic and BAM.
The tail kicks around in the 928.
Though this is after having driven only FWD understeering pigs. This was my first rear drive vehicle and it scared me a bit. FWD cars just claw me through a corner if I use too much throttle.
I'd like to think I'm just a little better now. It's nice how the Weissach kicks in when you dive into a corner and use the throttle to 'steer' the back end around.
Been spending the past 4-5 years teaching myself the art of smoothness.
Talk softly to the chassis and she talks back without backhanding me.
If it can ge broke, I can broke it

I think that where the engine is in relation to the rear axle as well as its overall weight distrubution has alot to do with how neutral it will handle. One of the reasons the boxster was so successful for Porsche in the sales department was its placement of the engine in front of its rear axle, resulting in a car that was fun to drive but was quite neutral and wouldn't "surprise" a newer, less experienced driver with the oversteer a 911 could sneak up on them with.

A couple a months ago I went to a track day with a Renault Clio Cup. (it is a small race car with about 200hp, fully prepared to competition).
This day there was a GT3 on the track. My surprise was to overtake the GT3 very easy. It looked more like a large fat turtle on the track. Could not catch it on strait fast sections but on each turn it was so easy.
Maybe a cheap small fine prepared car for races is much superior to a super street car, or the guy on the GT3 was not such a good driver. Any way it was funny.
This same day the only car that offered some resistance was a Onda Civic also prepared for a special cup.
Up to now I did not have the courage to go there with my 928. I figure that will not be good for it's health...

Having the money to BUY a GT3 does NOT assure that the owner has the ability to drive They may have the opportunity to learn .

This is still going on?
I'm surprised no one has hit upon what I think is the interesting story in this thread...
The GT3 owner and Carl had never met prior to Carl driving away in the GT3. Carl was on vacation. Now Carl's a nice guy and all but, if it was me, I'm not sure I'd let someone I'd met 5 minutes ago drive away in my brand-spanking new 130K Porsche. I have to imagine that the conversation went something like this:
Carl: Hi! That's a nice Porsche.
GT3-Dude: Oh. Thanks. That's a mighty black 928 you have.
Carl: [Jedi Mind Trick] You'd like to let me take your GT3 for a test drive. [/Jedi Mind Trick]
GT3-Dude: Hey. Why don't you take my GT3 for a test drive?
Carl: [Jedi Mind Trick] I'll bring it back when I'm done having fun with it. [/Jedi Mind Trick]
GT3-Dude: Have fun. Just bring it back when you're done.
Gotta have a strong mind when Carl's near
