Thx. The 928 is very stock. Even kept the Blaupunkt Bamberg - I had it serviced by Walter Odemer, an old timer who works exclusively on vintage german radios.

Running wide tire on narrow rims makes the car unstabile and lowers the potential cornering ability. With the sidewalls pinched in at the rim under side loads the rim "floats" from side to side and will actually lift part of the tread off the road. Most racing organizations limit only rim width in their rules you can run as wide a tire as you wish !!! but get too wide and you just go slower and make more noise

What thier not afraid of the safty issues of too wide a tire on too small a rim?

It just means you plow off track at lower speeds , perhaps that is safer ?
