Top End Tuning and John Speake's Shark Tuner
Although I can't justify the purchase at this time, John Speake's SharkTuner seems to have a lot of potential for squeezing the best performance out of the 928. If one can increase the rev limit and engine efficiency, theoretically, you could improve overall performance and increase top end quite a bit? No? Is the tool easy to set up and use? Is Dyno testing required to verify the new settings?
It would be nice if 928 mechanics around the country would get these and offer "optimal 928 tuning" services.
Related to this, what is the most reasonable rev limit for the 928 32V? And still be able to avoid grenading your engine?

imo there is no need to increase redline in the 32V engines and without chevy drilling the crank, and possibly new/stiffer valve springs I would NOT do it

H,
Aren't the guys from Adam and Tom's shop offering custom tuning with the Shark Tuner? I was down there recently and we were discussing it. Apparently they can tune your car and burn you a custom chip. I remember it sounded good and the price was reasonable.
I'll see if I can get more info from those guys, or you could send them an email to see what's up.
From what I heard, there are some pretty good gains to be had without any radical mods.

Hello Harvey
Have a look at the "Official SharkTuner thread" started by Tony. Your questions could be aswered there.

I think Greg Brown is also offering ST remapping now.
I don't know if you have an "X" pipe, but there are some gains to be made there, and a ST session could add some extra on top of that. Depending on the fuel quality abvailable in your area, you may be able to get some more mid and top gains by remapping the EZK with some more advance in a few areas.

i will endorse shark tuning, the results on my GTS engined car were easily felt through the seat of the pants and also in 3rd gear pulls against my mates car. prior to the tuning i would pull ahead from his GT but afterwards the rate of gain was so much its got him thinking about a bigger engine the improvement after tuning the LH was easily felt with improved throttle response at all points in the rev range.
on a second session we also ajusted the ezk and during this session we switched maps between the stock map and the 'new' or remapped map. as we had been testing and driving and tuning i wasnt sure what kind of gain we had achieved , you have to have several goes at it mostly under WOT (for the ezk) and it all got a bit samey - one lurid rush down the road after another can do that! so we switched back to the stock map and it was sluggish by comparison.
in talking about it with john, he said that no two cars were the same so far, that he has worked on. he also felt that there may not be so much to gain if the car is stock. my car has different cams and exhaust. i know that after i fit headers i will be going back to see john, i will probably swap in 30lb injectors too.

And great testimonial from someone that has actually used the product.
Thanks!

Hi Ed,
In one Rennlist thread, Louie Ott detailed the improvements in power across the range with LH and EZK tuning.
He showed that on a stock S4 you can pick up a few HP at the top end. Every car I have SharkTuned has improved pickup in the mid range and drives much smoother than stock.
