Default Jager Button Overlay Install with Pics....

So I decided after a year to go ahead and install the Jager overlay kit as my butons were getting worn.

First pic shows what I used for the prep and install.

The installation of the stickers was straightforward although I had problems with bubbles. Even after popping them with a pin and using heat they're not perfect but I guess they're better than what I started with.

I wish they weren't so shiny. It would be great if Jager could make a kit with a transparent or satin finish to the plastic so it blends better. I would definitely buy another kit if they were able to do this....hint hint!

The trick is to moisten the switch with water before applying the overlay. This allows you to perfectly position the decal and results in no air bubbles.

The only time I took my car to a Porsche dealer, the car looked great. The only item they commented on was my overlays, and how the buttons looked so new.

Hey, what about the V8 sticker that can go above the rear windshield wiper? When you push this button (after the sticker is on it) kids in the back seat can be led to believe that is why the car takes off.

I've gotten my money's worth from that little V8 sticker .

Nicely done.

I purchased the black aluminum temp. sensor overlay from Jag Eng., and am very pleased with the quality, and end result. However, I didn't receive any V-8 sticker.

That blue and silver item in the first pic just looks wrong.

I think that blank button above the rear windshield button should be wired to open the rear hatch. On my button, I put the 2nd rear wiper overlay; was happy to get rid of that blank spot that everyone asks about.

I hope Jager figured out that they need to print the image backwards on the bottom of the overlay and put the glue over the printed image. If they still haven't done that, expect to enjoy these for mmmmm, say 6 months or so before the image wipes off. I don't think mine even lasted that long. This was 4 years ago, so they may have had enough people make them aware of it since then.

The smart thing to do would be to make digital stencils as with the PORSCHE on the brake calipers so that one could actually paint the image on the rocker switch as originally done.

Afshin,
So is the decal set printed on top of the plastic or reversed imaged onto the adhesive side?
If it's done the way Keith says then you might think about putting a layer of the clear film (PDA screen protector type adhesive film) on top the circular indent part of the Jager decal.
I've got one of Jager's temp sensor cover and it hides the badly chipped sensor plastic. (Wonder if PO or PO mechanic went at it with a vengeance to try and pry it out)

I will take a look at them this afternoon and post back. I do know that I used alcohol to wipe the stickers after letting them cool and they didn't rub off at all.

I really like the stenciling idea so long as the paint would last at least a year or two. This would look much better and maybe the stencil can be set and then heated to remove the paint onto the button.

Kind of like an "iron-on"...interesting concept. I think the right way to do it, would be to remove all of the switches, thoroughly clean them and adhere digitally cut stencils. Then, paint with a very light coat or two...more like one sweep with a spray can. What would REALLY be cool is glow in the dark paint. Or use colors to match your interior. Personally, I don't need to look at the switches to use them, but if they have images on them, they should be clear and concise. The Jager shiney scotch tape look just doesn't do ti for me either. A quick spray of matte clear coat should solve that.

I love the rattle can too much. It can hide many many sins. . .
But please test the plastic laminate/sticker first. I tried to clear coat some bicycle stickers once and the solvent in the clearcoat made a mess of the stickers.

I used the extra 'shift pattern' overlay for the blank rear wiper spot - my car having an auto trans!

I tell folks that switch engages the Tiptronic shift system. They're like all 'ooo ahh'.

The overlay kit also includes one for the rear hatch release. I used a black Sharpie marker to black-out the original boxy car outline on top of the hatch release switch, then placed the decal on top.

Now my hatch release has an actual 928 outline, instead of that original econo-box silouette.
