I think the electric cruise control is just great, the vacuum version seems to have had many more issues...
The control ergonomics are perfect I think - simple & easy push forward to go faster, pull back to slow down - what could be more intuitive?
The 5 speed auto-resume is an especially nice feature and seems to work seamlessly.

Every car I've ever owned has had cruise control and I've avoided using it in all of them. Years and years ago a friend of mine crashed after falling asleep at the wheel of his 87 Ford Thunderbird Turbo. So instead of the car slowing as he dozed off it just continued at the same speed until full stop. Though it's probably silly it always sat with me and so I've never been comfortable with just leaving it on cc.

It is not really a usefull feature at this speed, but it works. On my way to Stuttgart I had a couple of nice, empty stretches. Cruising at 120 MPH + was easy and very relaxing.
Another feature: The PSD light comes on on very long turns on the Autobahn at high speeds too.

Schocki,
Yes I have seen the same thing on high speed sweepers - PSD comes on for extended periods - but the lock level must be low because its basically undetectable - not evident there was any real wheel slip just high speed high lateral and presumably preventative measures...
I find the cruise frequently useful - keeps control of speed on short & long trips + on long trips when you get tired you can drive the car this way dynamically - it not as if you have to set it & forget it...
