Talking stolen 928 update, update!

Well, the police havent contacted me yet, the location of the car was approximately six miles from my home. We did drive the kid over to an atm machine and gave him $500.00 cash, THE MOST MONEY HE HAS EVER SEEN! we dont think he was involved but very cautious, the reward was $2000.00 when we are informed that he was not involved will give him the rest. Champion can cut a key through Porsche Cars of North America, hopefully to arrive within five days, then we really prove that we have no damages. The kid actually called me today to ask where the rest of his money was. I'll keep you posted/ f.y.i. We contacted our local PCA webmaster to put up our "plea" nothing, nada, zip. Another little dig, Braman was so unknowledgable, they said it was inpossible to get a key for such an early car. Meanwhile Champion was extremely helpful, Todd Parts manager. Susaan at Devek said that complete lock sets are not available she sourced Germany even. Another lucky chance, the gas cap was unlocked.

Thank you for your support

I'm still trying to understand some of the details of this story:

Did the thieves drive tha car with the original key? How could they get that key - was it in the ignition? Why don't you have a second key?

Where is the car now? Is it where it was found, or at some Police lot?

In any case, I'm glad you found it. Hope they find out who took it in the first place, and do what's necessary to prevent this from happening again...

Nicole,
They burgled his place and found the key.
A bummer and a lesson.
Due to the close radius from theft to found location it could have been seen, followed, and plotted upon. Could also been a friend - kid or otherwise - or aquaintance of his kids (if applicable), someone who visits the neighborhood, or, plain old random theft. But in any case it appears to be someone close by, young, not to bright because they had no ready buyer, didn't run away to California, and parked the poor thing probably within walking distance of their own home.
Rich, I see nothing wrong with preparing to jump a conclusion: It sure seems odd that you ran into some teens who could take you right to the car- adjust this opinion for the sheer randomness of the whole affair- after a phone tip (was the tip to you or the police?) put you in the ballpark.
Wish you could get some prints, might have a repeat offender, especially if the prints come from the inside of the car and or your home.
I had a 750 Honda stolen when I was 20 and I covered Pittsburgh from Oakland thru shadyside, Wilkensburgh, Regents Square, Rankin and actually found it at a friends'(sic) house in North Braddock. All on foot. He thought it was funny till the beating started. A week later he threatened my life at work in the steel mill. I flogged him and another EX Buddy who hauled the bike away in his pick-up till they cried like babies. Cringed like chain whipped dogs everytime they saw me after that. I DID for those two prior to the theft. Maybe I was blind to peoples intent
or they were real life social vampires but my feelings were hurt and I tend to look at people real hard since then.
Rich I know this is costing you, but you have been luckier than some. Hope the sHARk is tip top!
John S.
