Riyadh shark owners - Are you OK?

Thanks guys, I am fine back home in Oz. I havent heard from Tom (5 928s, including a Strozek), but will email him asap. I know his compound was not one hit, as it was pretty small. I have visited Al Hamra, Cordoba and Jedawel in my time there, but dont know the Vinell location. There were rumours that my compound (Yamama) was on the list, but was bypassed for some reason. At Al Hamra it would be easy to drive up the gate (sideways sliding steel door on rails), and then the guardhouse is about 3 ft away on your left - step out, pop the guard, push the gate open button on the desk, and you are in. At our place there was an elevated guard house separate from the reception area where visitors would be approached, so you would have to have a diversion or multiple approaches to disable the guards from closing the door, or keeping it closed. The main gate at Jedawel was nearly the same security level as the EMbassy with a single approach lane made with concrete bollards, a right turn to an inspection point blocked by a ramp etc, probably why they attacked the rear gate -and couldnt get close to residences by the look of it. The rent at Jedawel was SR270k/pa = US$72k/pa for ~6-8bedroom, 4 bathroom, double garage etc, some had private pools.

John-
Company I worked for built & runs Jadawel. They lost some extremely brave and loyal security people in the firefight, plus caretakers whose quarters were just inside the wall where the bomb detonated.
Glad to hear you are well.

Donald,
Jedawel was pretty impressive inside, wish I could have afforded the rent! I took the 928 there one night on a visit, and got all the right appreciative noises from some spectators.
I have mailed Tom just now, and will pass on the results asap.
I saw on the news that the Oz embassy in Baghdad is being recommissioned - easy since it was in very good order. Apparently the local caretaker (since Gulf War 1!) took his job seriously - chased away looters, even took an AK47 off one of them. Gardens look in excellent shape. Anyway, they have given him a certificate of appreciation, and a year's salary for his efforts - good stuff.
