Much has been written on Rennlist by David Lloyd , Mark Kibort , John Veninger etc. about the "hybrid" 5 liter 16 valve ..... perhaps the most cost effective way to build one is buy a GOOD 85-86 short block . The more Euro parts used the better the higher RPM horsepower but a 78-79 CIS car runs very strong . the simple way to get pistons notched is give the machine shop a 2 valve piston to measure for the location . The depth is somewhat dependant on cams used and if the heads have been milled / surfaced . The entire upper block is Alusil and can be honed to size to fit larger pistons .

How much does a used/rebuilt 5.0 shortblock and 85-86 exhaust manifold cost these days? Also, I know this is a silly question, but how would you use a 100mm 4 valve piston on a 16 valve head?
Thanks,
Cory
