Post Help, engine going on stand.

TIA

My quandry is what bolt holes do I use to bolt the engine to an engine stand? As I do not want to put undo stress anywhere on the block.

As I can do many things, I never did bolt a block to an engine stand. I would rather ask, than learn an expensive lesson.

Doz, it looks like the top two bolt right into the block and the bottom two go through with bolts and nuts with washers. Check out this site. http://www.928sg.com/block.htm

Next 2 Questions:

1. Do I need to remove the fly wheel to put on the stand?
2. What size thread andf bolts are the top holes?

Appreciate the help here.

1. Depends on the clearance with the engine stand. You might be able to leave the flywheel on. I was able to leave it on with a 944 engine.
2. Same bolt and thread size that is used to mount to the bell housing, only longer. (look up in PET or manual)

John,
You do not need to remove the flywheel. You will need four -12\1.50 millimeter bolts 4 inches long and two nuts.

Thanks Steve and Gerry.

Big Dave gave me a hand starting to degrease the engine. Don't let Dave trick you into believeing he did the hard work. I had to really work spraying the spray bottle.

I will have the engine on the stand tomorrow.

Just waiting for parts now, and still trying to find a decent shop around Detroit to do the heads. Anyone around the area have any leads to a reputable shop?

Doz,
G'day mate. How come your theme song sounds like it's being played on a Digerie Do? Are we compressed?

Dozman,
The manual recommends supporting the front of the engine when a complete motor is on a stand. I'm going through the same thing myself. Once you get to a short block (if thats where your going) you can remove the front support.

Ernest,

I will refer you to Big dave on that. As I am not the computer savy guy....

Tresamore,

I am in fact am going down to the short block. Thanks. I have a 4*4 ready to cut to height. It's amazing after you clean away almost 20 year of dirt and grime that you find the engines original color is not black.

Man oh man you guys are rough. It's the clearest copy of the Six Million Dollar Man theme I could find!

Geez....at least DOZ thought it was funny/appropriate!
