Headlight out of sync!
Car: 1986 928s4 Auto Jap Spec!!! (LHD)
With healights up fully, and motor mechanism working correctly, 1 headlight is snug to the to stop. The other is about 0.5inch short!!!!
Both safety latch mechanisms are OK and fully latched.
Having looked all over the headlight raising / lowering system - it seems ok, and no obvious broken parts.
Looking through the old posts, I can find no reference to one light being out of sync to the other.
Is there an adjustment in the linking tube?
(Or is it bent / damaged?)
Any help greatly appreciated as I am now lost!
Thanks for your help.
Jonathan

Remove the inner guard cover (in front of front wheel), check light clamps onto the main bar that rotates to erect the lights. Sounds like it slipped. Also check the bar supports where the bolt to frame - visible under bonnet when open.

Dear Randy and JP,
Thanks for your two posts.
Actuaally I did manage to find the one that Randy sent me the link to.
My bar that rptates has two roll pins in the end at each side to locate the headlight.
It looks pretty much like it was built this way.
So no hope of rotating one light on the shaft that rotates relative to the other.
I am rapidly comming to the conclusion that my shaft is twisted or bent.
Thanks for your help so far.
If you think of any ideas - I am all ears.
(Right now I am stripping it down to remove the shaft - then 'straighten' it in the vice).

I'm referencing my 84. I don't know off hand how different the 86 is, so bare with me.
When you open the hood, you'll see the black headlamp roll bar. (Located far forward) On this bar, on each end, you'll see two 10mm bolts. On my shark, I was able to resync/realign the headlamps by loosening those bolts and manipulating the headlamp accordingly. Be careful that you do not release to much tension or the headlamp will fall hard back into the fender. (I used the manual trun **** to bring the headlamps up, then I began the procedure.)
For centering the headlamp in the fender eyelit, I followed the Headlamp rollbar to the inner fender (inside the engine compartment). Again, you will find two 10mm bolts. Again, on my shark, I loosed the bolts and slid the bar forward to center the headlamp.
FYI - Disclaimer, although I have the manuals, I did not reference the procedure. I just follwed the bar and verified the fastening points. This may or may not be the correct way to configure.
Peace
