The RDK system is a tire pressure monitoring system, found on '89 - '91 (I think) 928s. It was not a popular sytem, and many owners have disabled it.

Wally, you forgot that the 1993 GTS also has RDK
It was removed for MY 1994.
Personally, I like it and haven't disabled it. It works JUST FINE as far as I'm concerned.
The main problem with RDK is that it is "too accurate" for most drivers. It will go off with trigger point of 1 – 2 lb. below target pressure, which is about 34 lbs. for my GTS.
"Relative tire air pressure", which is what air gauges measure changes as a function of
- ambient temperature
- barometric pressure
- altitude
This means that if the ambient temperature drops, if you have a "high pressure" zone move in, or if you drive down a few hundred feet in elevation the RDK may alert you that tire pressure is low. In reality, the pressure HAS decreased but most drivers feel this is an annoyance vs. making this fine of an adjustment.
Other common objections to RDK are
- earlier RDK was targeted at too high of tire pressure for today’s tires
- if you change wheels and don’t have RDK sensors, then you get error messages
- if the RDK sensor in the wheel goes bad, replacement sensors are quite expensive true.
It is easily disconnected. So don’t take the recommendation of Excellence Magazine and shy away from a 1993 GTS purchase. Limiting a search to 1994 – 1995 models makes a slim pool of candidates closer to none.
If you’re really into trivia, RDK is named from the German words Rad (tire) Druck (Pressure) Kontrollieren (verification).
