Can someone take a few pictures of the kit opened and closed for reference? Have never seen a P Car first aid kit and I'm curious the layout.

Mercedes all had kits in their cars since I believe the 60's or 70's. What I noticed was that after about 6 years the heat and aging made the antibiotics and cleaners useless and each components needed to be replaced. What most did is what a few suggested earlier. Use the original bag and replace the components and then keep the originals for show purposes.

The PO didn't manage to loose or destroy the FA kit in mine, even though he lost the jack and some of the tools. But the worst crime was the front door speaker installation, I nearly cried when removed the speakers and saw what had been done to the door's inner skin.

I would rather be missing the FA kit than have doors that look like they've been attacked by a giant tin opener.

the FA kits were a Euro thing, dependant on delivery destination
the kits are still made today but the box is orange IIRC, the last time I spoke to my Porsche rep about this he told me there were still 12 of the original mounting brackets available in Germany
here's pics
PS: my box has a broken tab, if anyone knows of any empty box available please contact me

That is a nice kit. As with all Porsche stuff, they definitely went the extra mile to put the kit into a metal container with an o-ring to seal the inside. Very nice!

Thanks for posting Rick

There is actually a DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm - German Industry Regulation) for these first aid kits, and about 90% of the kits in the cars are interchangeable, as most have a spot somewhere made to fit exactly these standardized boxes.
Mercedes was one of the companies that had a different setup with a soft kit that stored in a compartment in the hat rack. I actually have one of these in each of my cars over here, just to have them with me in case...brought those over from back home as I really like the setup.

Now, my shark did not come with one, being a US model, but I wonder if one of my kits will fit in the rear console, if that is where they are usually stored?

Actually, some time ago (probably around 1990 AFAIR) Germany switched their postal codes from 4 to 5 digits to allow for new codes for the eastern part of Germany once the wall was down.
The 2000 actually used to be Hamburg's postal code, and Schenenfeld is a suburb of Hamburg ;-)

Wow, this is all very interesting. Rixter, you seem to have a nicer box than the ones we have.

I guess we have the soft kits mentioned by mnotz (and thanks for the clarification on the address thing!). Since BigRob seems to also have the same style, this, I guess, is the newer iteration of the kit? Doesn't seem like three different cars from three different states would have the same thing if they weren't issued by Porsche. That would just be too much coincidence.

Both of our kits are black vinyl covered boxes with flip open lids on the length side (a opposed to the flat side or the end side, if that makes sense) that curve around and tuck into a strap on the flat side. They also have the gold sticker on the flat side mentioned by BigRob. But our mullbinde stuff in both kits has slightly different markings from the one you show, Rixter. The printing on our mullbindes are not blue and red as yours are, but rather all red. Both of these boxes fit perfectly in the rear console, which is where they were when we purchased the cars.

I'd like to post pics of ours, but my ancient home computer can't handle the picture work. If anyone wants to volunteer to post them for me today, I can cell phone a couple of pics to your email in a few minutes. Otherwise, I'll post them up tomorrow when I get to the good computer at the office.

Rixter, I would offer my partial kit box to you, as it's in ok shape. Not actually torn except a little bit in the corners of the flaps where it opens, and the label is a bit abused, though still there. But your box is actually much nicer, even if it is broken. If you want it, though, you are welcome to it, though it may not fit where yours was. I don't know.

Goblin and UK, nothing more annoying than overly curious kids and clueless POs, huh?

The Guy decided he just had to see what was in one of the little rolls in our partial kit, the big ogre, so he opened one of the muslin burn packs. It was actually the most exquisite feeling piece of cotton, like the best 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets money can buy, about 10 inches by 15 inches or so, with gauze strips attached to each end. You could wrap his entire forearm with it (yeah, we tried) and then tie it off by his wrist and his elbow, and I feel, considering the smoothness of the cotton, that it definitely wouldn't stick to any sort of burn or other injury. It's just slick.

Pretty neat stuff, I must say. Porsche sure does know how to do things. Kind of like having a roof hatch release on the passenger side. They sure engineered and thought out every little thing to the last squeaky detail.

My car didn't come with a kit. On early cars with fire extinguishers up front in the later LH location, were the FA kits and extinguishers both squeezed into that space? On later cars with rear A/C, where is the FA kit?
