Post Is there a link with Water Temp going UP and Oil Pressure going DOWN?

The other day I came to realise how robust these motors really are.
After some hot weather the Temp guage went up past the "normal" 1st white line and got close to the next white line but nowhere near the red line.
I thought that's what to expect (Not having owned the car during previous hot weather). So for a few days of similar high temperatures the guage shows hotter running than normal. Next cool day same thing...this can't be right, something is wrong.....also I notice that in normal driving oil pressure shows "4" not "5" as normal and at idle "2" not "3". Check the expansion tank...empty...fill it up with coolant and find that it is squirting out the expansion tank hose at the engine block end.
Hose replaced, engine running perfectly.
1)How is it that the engine did not seize?(I added about 7 litres of water (nearly 2US gal.))
2) What is the link between high engine temp. and lower oil pressure readings.?
3) I now look under the hood.

Any comments appreciated.

Indeed these motors are robust.

In as far as the water temperature goes, the sensor is located on the bottom drivers' side of the radiator, while the reservior dumps into the top of the engine. Adding 7 liters to top it off is pretty significant.

The oil pressure on my car indicates 5 bar when first started, after warming up to NOT, the oil pressure is about 1.5-2 bar on idle, with pressure rising according to rpm.

Jim,
You are a lucky man, running a 928 without water and no damage - Py-ha - Be happy and remove the sweat from your forehead
But something is missing - The 'warning light' 'KUHLWASSER' for low cooling water level - You didn't see the lamp? If not, you have to check the sensor and lamp!
Yes, there is a connection between cooling water temperature and oil pressure - The oil temperature goes up when the cooling water temperature goes up, and when the oil temperature increase the oil viscosity goes down (thin like water - depending of the oil quality) and the pressure goes down

THe block is alum and therefore, expands at twice the rate of steel..thus, the bearing clearences open up with increasing heat. This reduces oil pressure.
