The relay is disabled in this case so the motor won't run.

So as long as you have the headlights physically in their correct position, should it not then matter for the S2 which is which?
Not trying to be difficult, but as I have a relay unit that I'm not sure is working 100% correctly I can't verify for myself.
The switch positions for up and down are fixed - if you swap these wires the motor will run in each case - but will park in the wrong position down becomes up and up becomes down - from a diagnostic perspective that both work might still be somewhat meaningful but it would be more meaningful still if it were correctly oriented. Why test it with anything other than the correct connections?

Ahh, another piece of the puzzle! Seeing as how I'm a lazy man, do you know which relay terminal(s) are connected to the HL fully up position switch and/or which part of the wiring diagram shows this switch?

Something is obviously cactus with my setup as the headlights come on as soon as I move the light switch to position 2, regardless of whether they're physically up or down.

Thanks,
Brian
