Speaking of engine weirdness....
I just changed out my TB and Water Pump. My '79 was supposed to have 44K miles on her. Looking at the previous registrations and the general condition of the car, it's possible.
I noticed that the old timing belt still had clear writing on the back. The rollers, tensioner and water pump were shiny new. All of the sump bolts were lockwired (never seen that before). There was blue gasket seal on the gaskets. The fan had been painted white with red tips.
The strangest thing is that my intake collector has "D.Monto" stenciled on it. All I could find out was that Monto means mountain in Brazilian. None of the previous owners were named Monto. Any body got a clue about what this might mean? Anybody got a good way to get this off my collector (the paint is REALLY resistant to solvents)? Is this a 928 thing?
The old girl runs very quick and smooth. I guess I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, but it would be nice to find out what happened.

Burning Brakes
Maybe the builder at Porsche who assembled the car? Some low production cars do that with signatures of the plant's assemblers, buuuut I don't know? That would be pretty neat though!
