Code:
'78         -> '82US/83ROW   3sp gearbox, long TT, 25mm center shaft
'83US/84ROW -> '84 4sp, washers for front flex plate, short TT, 25mm shaft
'85 -> '88 Without front flex plate adjustment, still same 25mm shaft
'89         -> '95           28mm thick center shaft
Those are four possibilities. '88-89 change is somewhat questionable but its some time within '88 MY or at beginning of '89 MY at latest. 2nd and 3rd row is exact same tube, its just matter of shims installed at the factory or not.

Its not bearing which is visible at back of both tubes. Its vibration damper. What H labeled as '86.5 has later style large donut rubber support while '88 has early style more complex design support.

Heinrich,
I HOPE that the shaft hung/pulled forward when you removed it....
No chance it walked?

John I know for sure the shaft pulled out as I pulled the trans back. I doubt it's supposed to pull out that easy though right? And spinning it, it made grinding noises and I could clearly pinpoint the offending bearing.....
