Question 91 S4- Oil Pan Gasket- will the pan come out?

Im in the process of changing the steering rack and engine mounts. A few people suggested that i change the oil pan gasket at the same time which seems totaly logical.

I removed all the bolts(not so easy). Then i tried tro remove the pan, which doesnt work as the sump and opther parts that are in the deep part of the pan wont let me move the pan foward. I raised the engine a bit but it still wong give enough room. Am i doing anything wrong and is there any reason that i actually need to take the pan out. I think that i can get the new gasket on without removing the pan.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

found the answer, it cant be done without dropping the front suspension, or lifting the engine out.

Thanks

Take it from someone who's done this twice, oil pan bolts are 4-6lbs torque, this ain't much! If you don't pay attention to this...you get to do it again
